The Follow-Up
This is The Follow-Up, a look back at the month to see what worked, what didn’t, and what’s next.
Any sort of schedule or routine went off the deep end last week. The girls started their required curriculum and it’s been a whole lot of figuring out who needs to do what, getting passwords reset, and making sure certain children are actually doing work and not just playing games, all while trying to give my own schooling the attention it needs. Hoping we can get back to a good nighttime routine soon.
I tried the Calm app for meditation and really liked it, more than Headspace. Also, I’ve been walking first thing in the morning and it’s refreshing. I usually listen to a podcast while walking, but I like to take a moment just to breathe deeply, smell the fresh PNW air, and listen to the birds. I’m sooo glad it’s spring.
I’ve been watching Julia Child’s The French Chef with my food obsessed daughter. So far I’m unfamiliar with everything she’s made and most of her techniques. I am definitely not a French chef, but it is fun to watch (and to spend time with my daughter doing something she loves).
For the architecture buff, tour a few of Frank Lloyd Wright’s designs virtually. I grew up down the street from a FLW house and would sometimes drive up to sneak a peak, but Gary got to go inside when he worked as a mover and moved the original owner from that house. Now we live a few minutes from another house, but all I’ve seen are photos thanks to the gate and secluded location. I find the way he designed around nature so inspiring, I’m excited to peak inside some of his designs.
I’ve been blogging for a month now! I’m still finding my way, but I’m enjoying it. I think what I’m hoping for from all this is connection, so if you like something, try something, have a suggestion or something to share, let me know! Thank you for reading and being supportive.
